Our Story |
Our mission is to provide upscale and quality service to our clients and a fair nurturing environment for our staff. Watch Video Clip About Daquila Hair Color Studio: An experienced stylist in the city of Pittsburgh for over 10 years, Deborah wanted to have a place where technicians were respected for their craft. Deborah believes that some technicians study hard and spend countless hours training to improve their craft. These technicians do not look at hair design as simply a way to make money. She wanted to open a salon that these people would be respected and honored for their motivation, skills, and determination in the profession. This explains her small but internationally trained team of technicians, everyone here has to be trained in the Dessange technique. Danielle had a degree in business and a passion for marketing. She wanted to have a business that would carry on her family’s tradition of success and hard work as her grandfathers car dealership had done many years ago. The two sat down one day in Deborah’s living room and said “what if we opened a salon together?” “My mother had the experience of being in a salon and the clientele to bring with her; I had the marketing background and corporate experience to make it work on the business end of things. It was perfect.” quotes Danielle. Hours went by and a notebook was full of ideas, but that was the beginning of Daquila Hair Color Studio. After months of carrying out business tasks, Danielle discovered a passion for men’s hair, and Deborah had realized she liked being involved with more business issues then what she had initially intended. Deborah chose the area. They looked in Shadyside but property was too expensive; given the rise of retail shops pushing out small businesses it did not appear to be a smart business move. Deborah saw a space for rent in East Liberty that was formerly a small gallery. After careful research they learned that with the recently opened Whole Foods, that small business would be able to thrive and grow. The Daquila team also found a friendly and open business community in the neighborhood. “We chose a space large enough to give each technician and client lots of room. After visiting many salons we experienced a “factory” feeling of being on an assembly line. People working too closely limits their artistic potential and makes the client feel uncomfortable. We don’t have loud music, or bright colors. We included natural colors on the walls, plants, and a small waterfall to relax our clients. We realize our clients lead hectic, busy lives; this might be the only time in a month they have to relax and not think about anything else but themselves,” states Deborah. In the color area there is a huge skylight to provide natural lighting for accurate color. Too many times clients like their hair color inside a salon and walk out side to find it is a different shade due to improper lighting of a salon. |
